I have worked with Pat Chandler for a number of years now and have found her to be a patient and enthusiastic instructor who is generous about sharing both her knowledge and time. Pat helped me get back into dressage with my two horses after a few years off from regular riding. I really appreciated how encouraging she is as I dealt with the time constraints that come with the raising a young child and how creative she is in problem solving the issues that typically occur in horses who have had a few years break in consistent riding. As an instructor, Pat was more patient with me than I was with myself, often becoming frustrated with my body mechanics. She would repeat what I would miss and give me time to figure things out without constantly reminding me of what needed to be done. I really appreciated that 'think time', as it helped to process what my body was supposed to do and put that into reality. She is concise when teaching, which makes it easier for me understand what I need to be doing.

I can’t tell you how hard it’s been to find someone local that I could stay consistent with that pushes me to do better every lesson. Riding only babies/green horses I’ve fallen down the hole of riding to “get the job done” and doing whatever necessary to protect myself. Terrible but true! I picked up a lot of bad habits along the way never taking the time to actually work on my riding the way I needed to. The past few months Pat has really pushed me to do better and ride the correct way, working on myself, not just whatever it takes to get the horse to do what needs to be done and live to tell the tail. Riding everyday, multiple horses I had really lost touch on a lot things without even noticing the toll it was taking. I got in the terrible mindset of “I can get the horse to do it, Just don’t look at me up there.” I lost myself and a lot of my confidence with it. Pat has brought me all the way back down to basics making sure I perform to the best of my ability and man what a feeling! The difference in how my horses are going and my confidence is absolutely incredible! There’s not enough I can say to express how grateful my horses and I are to have Pats watchful eye and expertise on our side! Thank you so much for your top notch straightforward coaching and all of your support Pat!

Ms. Pat has been amazing when working with my daughters and their pony club mounts. We have known her for years and have presented her with "unique" situation horses and ponies whom we told her that we felt she could really bring out the best in when truthfully no one else had any hope for them and my girls had received comments such as "being unsuitable" ( Irish) and "send to the killer" ( Raffy) but my girls loved them. Ms. Pat gave them all thought and came up with plans. She worked with my girls and their ponies ( 12 hands to 17 hands) and they all turned out very well receiving compliments wherever they went from Eventing rallies, fox hunting to fun shows. My girls adore Ms.Pat and the riding skills and general barn manners she instilled in them have been transferred to borrowed mounts, new mounts and other situations like Quiz, Horse Bowl, Ratings and Judging easily and very successfully.

I am so thankful to have Pat and Kent taking care of my baby girl. Val is the happiest horse she has ever been at Lucky Charm Farm. This makes me the happiest mom! If I am unable to make it to the farm every day, I know my girl is in great hands (I'm a bit paranoid that way). There is plenty of pasture for her to roam, hay for her to eat, and clean water for her to drink. Pat and Kent are on top of keeping up their records and reminding me to keep up on mine. When there are new things that I'd like to implement, they are sure to follow through. It's also nice to have good company in the barn who has their finger on the pulse of the latest goings on in our community. Thank you Pat and Kent for keeping me and my girl happy and safe!!

If you are serious about riding correctly, progressing in you skills and achieving harmony with your horse, I recommend Pat Chandler as a trainer. I have worked with Pat for less than a year on two different horses, and I have improved my position, riding mechanics and moved up a level. Pat has gone through the L Program, studied biomechanics and is very knowledgeable. This knowledge is reflected in her attention to detail in my lesson, which has really helped me to break some bad habits and build new muscle memory. I'm a left-brain rider, so understanding the why and the how of what we are doing is very important to me, and Pat has the answers and articulates them in a way I can understand.
No matter my frame of mind when I arrive for a lesson, Pat pushes me through and gets me to achieve my goals. She expects to see the student making an effort and is forthright about that, but I know that she believes in me when I'm not even sure I do, and that is a very powerful boost for an amateur rider. She has taught me to cast out my limiting beliefs, like I'm too old or too new at this. I am excited for my future wit her support!

I'm Amber, and my horse Astrid went to Pat's from January 15th to February 26th. When she first got there she was a little underweight and undermuscled, and barely had any real training. Since then she has gained a ton of weight, and muscle, she looks like a totally different horse. What I liked about Lucky Charm Farm is that Pat always told me what she was doing with Astrid, why, and how it would help her in the end. I was always updated on how she did everyday, and everything they were doing with her. Not only did Astrid learn, but so did I. Pat explained everything to me every step of the way, and taught me a lot about how to have happy, healthy horse. I never thought Astrid would get to where she is in such a short period of time. Before Astrid went to Pat, she would kick out if you tried to touch her back leg, and would have to be sedated for the farrier. Now for the first time in the 6 almost 7 months I've had her, she got her feet done without any sedation, and barely moved for the farrier, which is a big deal. Astrids also great on the lunge now, and has just started being trotted under saddle without any issues, since Pat did all the proper groundwork. One of my favorite things is that Pat made Astrid feel safe, and made her as comfortable as she could be. I couldn't be happier with Astrid, and can't thank Pat enough for how well she's done with her. 🤍
